Project
A project promised to deliver breakthrough and game-changing technology
AIM
AIRCOLES aims to design, model, and validate a compact integrated engine–compressor system that converts low-temperature waste heat into electricity, cooling, and heating. It will optimize layouts for real end-user cases, test prototypes experimentally, and assess techno-economic, environmental, and social performance to support TRL 8 market deployment.
IMPACT
AIRCOLES will create value from low-grade industrial waste heat by converting it into usable or storable energy. It will support cleaner and more cost-effective operation across sectors by improving efficiency and reducing fuel demand. Its scalable retrofit potential can accelerate industrial decarbonisation, especially for SMEs seeking practical energy-saving solutions.
PROJECT
MAIN OBJECTIVE
The ultimate objective of AIRCOLES is to decarbonise the energy consumption by using the untapped low-grade renewable heat with a focus on solar, geothermal, urban heat and waste heat using air as a natural and readily available working fluid and storage medium.
